We All Need a Little Motivation

There are days (like today) when we need a little extra push to get out the door. I know I am not alone in this, so I thought I would share some motivational stories and quotes for the days when running or exercise seem impossible.

Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. – Steve Prefontaine

The greatest pleasure in life, is doing the things people say we cannot do. – Walter Bagehot

Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there. – Will Rogers

64 year old Larry Macon has only been running for 15 years and has completed more than 530 marathons and ultras. His weekend itinerary usually involves running two—sometimes three—marathons. “There is no reason to race this much unless I enjoy it—and I do,” he says.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it. -Oprah Winfrey

“We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves…The more restricted our society and work become, the more necessary it will be to find some outlet for this craving for freedom. No one can say, ‘You must not run faster than this, or jump higher than that.’ The human spirit is indomitable.” -Sir Roger Bannister, first runner to run a sub-4 minute mile

Hope these help motivate you to get out there and challenge yourself!
