Today was the start of week as far as workouts go. And I got the week started off right. My mileage goal for the week is 16 miles. I am trying to build up to 25 miles a week before marathon training begins, but am easing into because I would rather not make that goal, than try to add too much too soon.
This morning I set out for a 5 mile run at 6:45. There was a nice cool breeze and I felt good right off the bat. I finished the run in 47 minutes an some change. My splits were:
Mile 1: 10:00
Mile 2: 9:00
Mile 3: 9:30
Mile 4: 9:08
Mile 5: 9:38
I gobbled down 1/2 a sandwich thin with almond butter and 1/2 a banana before I left with coffee and milk. And I already knew what I was going to have when I got home. I had it in my head before I even went to sleep last night. I had a protein-packed post-run breakfast of scrambled eggs (1 egg, 1 white), a slice of turkey and 1/4 avocado on a sandwich thin. And about 10 cherries. I tried to take a picture, but my camera battery was dead. 😦
After breakfast, I took the dogs for a 25 minute walk. Now it’s time to crank out a butt-load of work!
