Back in the Saddle

Today was the first day I got back in the saddle since the century ride almost two weeks ago. It was a gorgeous day, but it was HOT.

I headed out around 11:30 because I had some errands to run and chores to do this morning.  It was way too hot to go for a run and I have been wanting to get back on the bike for awhile now. I decided to head out for an hour ride. It is so nice to just head out for a short ride rather than having to get all the fuel and gear needed for longer rides.  All I had to take was a bottle of water!  My average pace was 16.3 MPH which was great. Now that I am no longer training for a long ride, I can work on increasing my speed for the upcoming Olympic distance triathlon.

After my ride, Cash and I headed to my parents’ house to enjoy the weather and play in the pool.

I relaxed by the pool with some leftover veggie and chicken whole wheat pizza.

And some riveting reading material.

Aaron has been off in Idaho for a few days to help his mom move to town to lie with us for awhile. They hit the road today and had originally planned to roll into town midday tomorrow.  But I got the good news that they will be here tonight!!!  I am so excited, but that also means I have some chores to hurry through that I was planning to tackle tonight.

I am hoping to get to bed early tonight because I am volunteering at a triathlon tomorrow morning and I need to be there at 6:30 and have a 45 minute drive. This is the same race I will be doing in August, so I am excited to get a sneak peek at the event and I also get a $40 race voucher I can use toward my triathlon entry.

Sounds like a great ride! I don’t know how I’m going to fit them in now that it’s over 100 here. By 6am it’s hot! mmm that pizza looks great. Good luck with your tri training!!
